Mama Elena is a brave women, I believe she is someone that she is strong and not anything can touch her or do anything bad to her. For example, when the revolutionaries were coming to the ranch, she was brave enough to stand and make them not do anything to the ranch. she did not let a single soldier in her house. she showed the captain that she was a good shouter. I believe women should look up to her. she saved her daughters from getting rape from any soldiers. she also save her food supplies. Mama Elena was showed to be so brave till i saw she got paralyzed from trying to save Chencha from getting rape by a group of bandits. she got hit and paralyzed. this forces her to accept Tita back into the ranch, because she needs Tita to take care of her. I do not understand how Mama Elena let that happened to her. At first at the beginning of the book, when reading it I saw that she was a problem in the novel, like the antagonist. but it all depends in what way you look at it. Like for Tita and pedro to be together, she is an obstacle, how ever when she is there to do something for the family, we see her as an important character. A leader someone that is needed to keep the family together. When Tita left to live with Dr. Brown, Tita did not know what to do. it said it in the book that she was lost, that know her hands were free of doing what she wanted, Yet she did not know what to do with them. When reading this I realized how important Mama Elena is to her Family.
